Services

C.D.S. Education provides individualised programs to students, parents and teachers. This includes:

Assistance with school selection
Individual learning programs for gifted students
Parent information seminars on giftedness, learning styles and self-efficacy
Testing and Assessment of students’ individual learning style, strengths and weaknesses and identification of their gifted domain. Such assessment may include (but is not limited to) Kaufman, Torrance, Deci & Ryan.
Assessment of student self-efficacy
The development of school based self-efficacy assessments
Research projects on student self-efficacy, pre and post testing or new programs
Professional Development workshops and training for teachers on giftedness, types of giftedness and self-efficacy
Conference presentations on behalf of schools
In the future it is anticipated that a counselling service will be offered

Sample Consultation

Consultation with parents and then the child suspected of being ‘gifted’

Talking with parents
Parents complete a questionnaire
Review of student reports and assessments
Meeting of child (done before any assessments are given, an important factor)
Assessments as required (may include reading, writing, mathematical, learning style, strengths and weaknesses, self-efficacy)
Individual and confidential sessions with student
Work towards agreed goals
Post testing at conclusion of term or school year
Referral to tutors, child psychiatrists, speech pathologists, counsellors as required.
